Rest: Sometimes that's the answer

As a full time teacher, student and now small business owner life can get hectic and there comes a point where I realize I am running on fumes. My daily routine has been disrupted I'm drained of energy and I'm up past midnight working.

We get subtle clues that things are starting to get overwhelming; it's good that we pay attention to that before we become so overwhelmed and overworked that we start making mistakes and stress kicks in.

Remind yourself that not everything is meant to be done in a day, we do what we can and when we are no longer being productive take some time to reset.

A huge part of #SelfLove and #SelfCare is being aware of your needs, knowing when to hit the pause button.

We are created to do and be more than work. So whatever has you stressed or feeling overwhelmed it is okay to step away from it for a while. Give yourself permission to do something for you; take a nap, read an inspirational book, watch a move, take a road trip, journal.

Of all the activities mentioned above naps are the most restorative forms of #SelfCare. Being overwhelmed and stressed could be a consequence of overworking your body and mind 12-16 hour days. If you know you have a lot of work you have to do schedule a 30 minute to 1 hour nap in the day, so that way you can continue your work with a rested body and mind.

Create a space that helps to calm you. Something that helps me is lighting an incense, turning on some music and getting into my groove. Sometimes I dance in my living room, yoga is really good for stress relief. When you create your space remember to let go of the stress, the daunting work tasks; they do not have permission to be in this space (this is what your escaping from in the first place, lol). Once you've rested and your strength is renewed then you are free to continue about your day and face whatever it was you were struggling to accomplish.

Reading my daily devotionals help with overcoming the stress of the day, I used to read them all at one time, but when my day would get jam packed with work I would sometimes forget; now I read them throughout my day to keep me focused, there is always something in one or all of my devotionals that speak to my current situation. Which help me to refocus and let go of whatever negativity is trying to take over my thoughts. Resting on Gods promises. Trusting that whatever I'm worried about will take care of itself. When I awake from my nap, my mind is cleared and by body is re-energized.
